Jesus said, "My house will be called a house of prayer." Matthew 21:13
Prayer Opportunities

Our vision is to make White Plains United Methodist Church a "House of Prayer" by using a three pronged approach of education, prayer for our Pastors and ministries, and prayer for our community, the nation, and the world.

Education
Watch the bulletin for classes on prayer and opportunities for prayer conferences in the area. The Prayer Coordinator can recommend studies on prayer for Sunday School classes and small groups. All of the prayer groups are open to everyone regardless of experience. This is a great opportunity to learn more about prayer.

Pray for our Pastors and Worship Services
Ephesians 6:12 says, "For our struggle is not against the flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Our Pastors are on the front lines of this spiritual warfare and we need to continually pray for them. There are several opportunities to do this.

A group is praying with the pastors before the 8: 20 worship service. Come join us every Sunday, or whenever you can, at 8: 00 am in the Prayer Room. You can contact Jane Harrod at 783- 6507 with any questions.

Another group prays for our pastors as they share God's Word on Sunday mornings. This is a once a month commitment. This intercession is essential for the fullness of God's power to be released. If you are interested in joining the Sunday morning prayer team, contact Mark Brown at 465-4401.

Church Prayer Requests
Receive a list of prayer concerns from the church and pray at home for our church. Contact Lorrinda Janik at 467-9394 for more information.

Second Sunday Prayer Ministry Meetings
On the second Sunday of each month, from 5 - 6 PM, all prayer ministry team members meet to pray for our church and community. All church members are welcome to attend! This is a wonderful place to come if you feel led to be part of the prayer ministry and are seeking God's direction. Contact Jane Harrod at 783-6507 for more information.

Pray for Our Youth
You are invited to become a Silent Prayer Partner for our youth. You will be assigned a youth for whom you will pray on a daily basis. The youth will not know who you are until their senior banquet. If you are interested in participating as either a member of the organizational committee or as a prayer partner, please contact Dot Rosenbaum at 677-6112.

Pray for Our Children
Sign up to pray for our children age 3 through 5th grade. This program is called Prayer Pals. There are many ways you can help with this new program. For example, you can be assigned to pray for a specific child and/ or sign up to pray for the prayer concerns of the children. Eventually, we hope to be able to pray for all of the children at White Plains from birth to graduation. If you are interested in participating in this ministry, please contact Carol Carawon at 467- 9394.

Moms in Touch International (MITI)
MITI is an interdenominational organization of mothers meeting one hour each week to pray for their children and the schools they attend. We use a simple 4-step prayer format to guide our prayer time. Visit the MITI website at www.momsintouch.org, or contact Melissa Edwards at 469-3554.

Local Church Prayer Network
Join local laity from other local churches the first Friday of the month to pray for the churches in Cary, our Pastors, and our community. Contact Jane Harrod at 783-6507 for more information.

Pray for Wake County
Pray Wake County is a newsletter published by the local Concerts of Prayer. There is a copy in the Prayer Room in the Witness Prayer guide or if you would like to receive the monthly copy by e-mail contact Jane Harrod.

Pray for Our Nation
You are encouraged to participate in Prayer & Fasting for the President by registering at http://www.renewalministries.com/prayer_president.asp.

Use the Prayer Room
You are encouraged to use the Prayer Room to pray for any of these topics or any other topics that you have on your heart. There are prayer guides available for ministry areas of the church, for our staff and specific needs of our church and community. The Prayer Room is located in front of the Chapel in the administrative wing.
