Habitat
for Humanity
All of
us have a dream of a warm, safe home for our families. However, for
some that dream cannot be realized without help from the community.
Habitat for Humanity of Wake County is an ecumenical Christian ministry
that works to eliminate substandard housing in Wake County, and they
need us to help make home ownership a reality for families who may
otherwise never know the joy of owning a home.
All individuals are welcome to sign up. We are encouraging Sunday
School classes and other church groups to make up the teams of volunteers.
No experience is required except a willing heart.
Three areas where White Plains can make a difference are:
Work teams on Saturdays for sites constructing houses throughout
Wake County.
Volunteers for general office work Monday through Friday, 8:30
am to 5 pm. Any time and any number of days is appreciated.
Donations of new and used building and home improvement supplies
to the Builder's Resource Center, located at 2300 Capital Blvd,
Phone 833-1999x230.
Individuals also can purchase building supplies for their own home
projects there. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. The center
also needs volunteers each month to stock shelves, repair items,
price donations, work in the cabinet shop, etc...
