| The Appalachia
Service Project (ASP) is a home repair/home building ministry. ASP
responds to the housing needs of economically disadvantaged people
in Appalachia using a Christian perspective. We invite high school
youth groups with their adult leaders, college groups, adult groups,
individuals, couples and families of any religion or denomination
to read the following information and to consider joining us in our
ministry.
Our work crews will tackle projects ranging from painting to retaining
walls to replacing roofs to major structural surgery. In the process
we will learn new skills, meet volunteers from other churches, be
challenged intellectually and spiritually and have fun. Most importantly,
we will get to know families as we work on making their homes safer,
drier, and warmer.
ASP changes lives. Not just the families that we serve but also
the people that we send from our church. Ask someone who has participated
before. They would love to tell you about their experience.
Even if you can't go with us, you can participate in several ways.
You can sign up to be a prayer partner, you can donate snacks or
supplies, you can participate in our fund raisers. Most importantly,
you can support all of our church missions through your Faith Promise
gifts.
The Summer Ministry Program is especially valuable for high school
youth groups and their adult advisors; and ASP also offers year-round
service opportunities for college groups, family groups, individuals,
and couples at our Housing Services Centers.
The goal of ASP is to make homes warmer, safer and drier, while
offering transformational experiences for volunteers and homeowners
alike.
Time Required:
